ALUMINIUM WINDINGS FOR TRANSFORMERS
Some information on the Aluminum winding for transformers :
- Aluminum is the main option against copper as electric conductor for industrial applications.
- Advantages as lightness and cheap costs compared to copper.
- High resistance to atmospheric corrosion that increase its life.
- Easily recyclable and cheap
- Electric conductivity: on an equal weight, the aluminum specific conductivity is double of the copper but the specific mass of the copper is 3,3 times higher than aluminum. Consequently, on equal electric resistance, an aluminum conductor will be twice lighter than a copper conductor; 1 kg of aluminum can replace 2 kg of copper.
End use of Aluminum and its alloys:
- Electric cables conductors
- Screens in electric cables
- Rotors winding in rotating machines
- Transformers winding
- Airline conductors
Metalluminia srl is leader for over 30 years, in the machining of Aluminum strips product for transformers windings.
TECHNICAL DATA
- The main Aluminum alloys of the series 1000 to different commercial title as EN AW 1050A, EN AW 1070, on request others aluminum alloys.
- Electrical Conductivity,
- this parameter is an important factor for electrical applications and its value is at least σ 34 [S/m] – Ω/mm2 or equivalent Min 59% IACS at 20 ° C
- Temper “0”, fullyannealed, is widely used in the production of transformer windings.
- The aluminum surface is mill finish, bright, free from any kind of dirt, such as grease spots.
- The edges of the strips and of the coils have round edges and free of burrs in order to prevent any damage on the insulating material placed between the turns of the winding of the aluminum conductor. As permissible value of tolerance in a range of thicknesses from 0.20 to 3.00 mm is permitted a burr less equal to 0.02 mm.
- Dimensions & tolerances, gauges from 0,10 ÷ 3,00 mm ; widths from 10 mm to 1570 mm; tolerances according to Standard UNI EN 484/4, or on request ½ EN.
- Internal diameter, 300; 400; 500; 600 mm with/without corrugated paper
- Coils & strips misalignments, coils are wrapped up with the maximum attention , it is admitted a coils misalignment maximum ± 0,1 mm for both sides of the coils
- Standard references, according to UNI EN 573/3; 515; 485/2; 485/4
- Packing, the strips /coils are arranged on a pallet of appropriate wood and fixed by means of steel strapping, according to the following points:
The ends of the strips and coils are protectedThe strips and coils can be positioned vertical or horizontal axisProtection against the penetration of water or moistureFor transport by sea containers with possibility apply barrier bag and dehydrating salts to prevent moisture. Each pallet will be identified with one label
A dated and numbered certificate will be issued and delivered with the dispatch documents.
